Summer bliss
While I sit at my desk today staring at my computer screen under 100% artificial lighting, I'll be dreaming of spending the summer here.
I'm not big on too much sun, so a sweet-as-pie garden retreat really appeals (and I love the wellies too!). This just looks so perfect - I don't know if I'd ever want to go back in to the house.

Vintage & retro wallpapers
From Rosies Vintage Wallpaper.
Be sure to check out the 'Childrens-Novelty' papers - too darling. They just don't make them like that anymore!

Home in-progress
Yes, I'm a little obsessed with Union Jacks at the moment. We had a furniture shift around on the weekend and while I adore my chesterfield we do need more seating.
I also need many more pictures for my wonky picture wall.
But, besides these things - I'm starting to feel the room's working in the right direction. Yay.

Some super publicity
I'm absolutely stoked to have me and my designs blogged about over at Studio Home Creative.
If you're not already a follower, Julia from Studio Home Creative hunts down and shares an exciting mix of downunder design talent. I've found many a number of really noteworthy designers and products through Studio Home Creative so I was completely humbled and absolutely chuffed to be featured myself.
Go see!

Mid-century love: The Falcon Chair by Sigurd Ressel
I'm completely struck by the 70's Falcon chair by Norwegian designer Sigurd Ressel. Often over-looked, the Falcon is an iconic piece of Scandinavian design - the entire seat is a hammock suspended on a wooden or metal frame. It seems like pieces such as this are often over-looked amongst the Eames reproductions (don't get me wrong I still love an Eames!) and difficult to come by...and expensive (these things are always investments!).
But that soft, aged leather is calling to me.... if only I could find that spare $3k?

In the dark: bedroom
So, in my previous post I did say that I've been lazing around for weeks - (and predominantly I have) but I did get up to paint our bedroom.
I decided to go for darkest blue, and in the end settled on 'Indian Ink' by Resene..and wow, is it dark. In my head I had all these visions of a luxurious, lavish and somewhat mysterious sanctuary - but, right now...I don't love it. It's heavy and oppressive and I worry that I should have gone with something greyer and chalkier. I'm worried that my furniture is too stark against it, and I need lots and lots of paintings, prints and mirrors to lift the room. I know I'm impatient and that evolution is an important aspect of decoration, but I can't help but feel frustrated.
I haven't posted a picture of the whole room yet because it has the most ghastly curtains..and excuse the overexposed bedding - I was trying to be accurate to the wall colour. eek. I really want to make it work and I vow to work at it until it does.
*Sigh* Anyway, to cheer myself up and help me dream sweetly tonight I'll finish with a few more of my favourite bedroom inspirations.

2010 the year that will be...
It's almost February and yet I feel that my New Year is only just beginning. I've been in lazy holiday mode for weeks and am only now starting to think about 2010.
Theres a lot I want to do in 2010, or more importantly changes I want to make. I want to be more ambitious and really push my creativity, I want to become more business savvy and work my way towards working solely for myself, I want to cook more, be healthier, lose weight (yes, I'm a cliche), I want to be nicer to my boyfriend, walk my dogs more, turn my house in to the home of my dreams, save some money, make some money, be happy. I want to be closer to the person I used to imagine I would be by the time I was the grand old age of 23 (well, in April anyway).
Anyway, I'm going to start with this blog. It's a reflection of me and it bothers me.
I want it to be more cohesive, more organised and better designed - I want it to become more interesting to read, to have better content, better photos (mine) and for me to be a more reliable blogger. So, when I have another minute there will be a major overhaul - watch this space.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to drop by and have a look over the last few months - it means the world to me. It honestly makes my day to find a sweet comment when I get home from work. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, and Happy 2010!!!

Abigail Borg: Wallpaper
Abigail graduated in 2008 from the Leed's College of Art with a First Class Honours Degree in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design - in that same year she won 'New Designer of the Year 2008'.
While Abigail is a freelance Illustrator and Designer it was her commercially available range of botanical based wallpapers that brought her to my attention. They're striking and intricate and really, really special. They're available both online at her website or from Liberty of London. At 150 GBP a roll, they're unfortunately out of my current budget but if you can afford it I can see them as providing the ultimate feature wall in a master bedroom.
There are currently 5 designs available; Lady Green (pictured above), Mr. Chrysanth, Mauve Lily, Orange Fox and Polka Polka (pictured below).
Go check out Abigail's website (with shop and blog) for more pics.
