coming soon!

Just this morning I've ordered a bunch of Joel Dewberry's Woodgrain.
I know I'm a little late to the wood effect party but I'm still very excited about the faux bois dog beds that should be happening soon.
It will bring a bit of the old school kennel to the contemporary canine pillow - tres cool!

bonnie got puppia

Last week (after approx 1 month of little growth) I decided to invest in a puppia harness for Bonnie as she pulls on her lead and makes horrible snorting noises as well as continually getting tangled in her lead while jumping about (we're still working on 'Heel').

I've read a lot of positive things about Puppia harnesses and liked the idea of it being lightweight and form fitting. Bonnie has an ezydog harness for the car and the buckles and bulk mean it's too easy to chew and pull off (and it's ugly!).

Anyway, we got back from our walk this morning and it was there in the letterbox - Bonnie put it straight on and I was relieved to see it fits perfectly (lucky guess-work!). As for the comfort - she hasn't taken it off yet (4 hours and counting) and is sleeping (as usual!) soundly.

Of course it won't have been truely tested until a walk (this afternoon) and obedience class (tomorrow) so I'll have to update but so far so good!

We ordered the super cute Western style in pink which is striped denim in pink and white in a size small.

Oh and a note if you're going to go out and treat your doggy to one - the neck measurement given is actually the size of the neck hole so measure the head instead of the neck so the harness can slide on nicely - and not get stuck!

Living on the little island that is NZ I ordered from animalaffair.com.au where they stock the full range of designs (dotty, stripey, plain, gingham etc) and sizes. They posted for the same price as Australian Courier and it arrived within just a few days.
Also, although often limited in styles and sizes available, there is a seller of puppia products on trademe you could try if you're local.

prototype 2

The second prototype bed has come off the production line and now has a removable centre cushion for easy cleaning - because if your dog (or cat) is anything like Bonnie - they'll put all manner of yucky things in their bed (Bonnie's current favourite are live snails - yuck!).
The outside ring can be washed by hand and left flat to dry if needed.
It also features a double layer base for durability (especially good if your pup is digger!).

This bed is destined as a gift for my good friend Sam and her 5 month old puppy Poppy - so I hope to get some photos of it in use soon. Poppy is a ball of fluff so I made sure not to use flanellette or other fabrics that would attract her fur like a magnet!

Next week I hope to get into production and get some up for sale *fingers crossed*.

pretty!

While in Portland, Oregon I was lucky enough to find an apple green collar flower from Mimi Green.
They are so cute and the best thing is they can be put on or taken off any collar quickly and easily, making any dull, old collar a very cool accessory. And, because they're crocheted from nice soft wool your pup won't even realise he/she is wearing it.

Bonnie has her eye on the purple one next (she's sick of being mistaken for a boy), but she'll have to wait until she's over the teething rage first!

Each flower is $12.95 from the Mimi Green website www.shopmimigreen.com
or etsy www.shopmimigreen.etsy.com

i want

...new fabric :-(.
It costs a lot to ship and I have a pile of nice stuff at home that I haven't even tried to use yet but still...

sweet dreams

My first prototype doggy (or kitty) bed has passed its first test with flying colours.
Bonnie snuggled down for most of the morning until I dragged her out of bed. The inner cushion is brushed cotton to make it snuggly and warm.
This one is the perfect size for most cats and little dogs.
